Snorkel or Dive Alice's Backside, Near Ginger Island, British Virgin Islands (BVI)

alices-backside-bvi

Alice's Backside - A wonderful snorkelling site on the Sir Francis Drake Channel. This snorkel site is located on the North Side of the uninhabited Ginger Island. Usually very calm which is great for surface intervals. The Coral Reef is in great shape with parrot fish and other ocean life including lobsters, eels and octopus hiding in holes and crevices.

Please take note that no overnight anchorage is allowed at Ginger Island or Alice’s Backside. There are only a couple of Mooring buoys at this site so getting here early is always a plus. If you can find an open buoy, it is worth the stop on your sailing charter. The size and beauty of mushroom coral and enormous brain coral is enough to satisfy any diver.

Alice's Backside - 45ft. Novice ~ The perpetually calm North side is a restful dive with a huge reef slopping from 25 feet down to a 50 foot sandy bottom.

Other Dive Sites Located at Ginger Island
Alice in wonderland - 40 - 70ft Novice / intermediate situated off the south shore.
Carvel Rock - 40-70 ft Advanced A large rock facing the open ocean.
